Last night, the housemate and I booked flights to New York! We had been talking about going over there for ages, originally planning on this summer, but then for various reasons decided on December instead. We randomly came across some really cheap flights last night, and so rather impulsively, booked them on the spot.

Housemate’s cousin lives in Brooklyn, and has said we can stay there. We’re going for the whole of the second week of December, so are thinking maybe we’ll spend a few days staying there, and then a few days in a hotel in Manhattan. Hopefully by then we’ll have some money to burn, since we got the cheap flights (£270!) and there’s loads of time to save before we go.

I’m so excited! This will be the first time I’ve ever been to the US. For some reason I’m most excited not about things like seeing the Statue of Liberty or whatever, but about little things like American buses and American grocery stores and American television commercials. The little things that are different. Aaand I’ve just realised I’m practically quoting Pulp Fiction.

It’s still so far away that it doesn’t quite feel real yet. But prepare for much squeeing and asking of advice of Things I Should Do In New York around October/November time.
